Dordrecht with children

Looking for a fun outing with the family? Rain or shine, there is plenty to do with children in Dordrecht! Playing, swimming, eating, shopping, soaking up culture... We made an overview of the most child-friendly places in Dordrecht.

Playing outdoors in the Biesbosch

The green backyard of Dordrecht - National Park the Biesbosch - is the ideal place for children to expend all their energy. Running, climbing, swimming ... there is plenty to do! At Biesboschcentrum Dordrecht you can easily park and there are many fun activities within walking distance. You can just go for a walk or bike ride or visit the BeverBos. A fun beaver scavenger hunt, as well as walking and cycling routes, are available at the information desk. You can also discover the Biesbosch from the water in a canoe, sup or whisper boat. These must be rented online in advance. Do your kids like climbing and clambering? Then you can visit the climbing forest next door! Finally, on a warm day you can play with sand and water at the Merwelanden.

Activities with and for kids

In Dordrecht, there are regular fun kid-friendly activities. At the Dordrecht Museum, there is a special family tour, museum dice game, museum drawing guide and fun as pre-fun: the museum coloring sheet. Children up to 18 years get free entrance. The IVN Scharrelkids activities teach kids about nature in a playful way. The nature activities are for children aged 4-6 and 7-12. You can find an overview here.

At the National Museum of Education there is something for kids of all ages to do, such as a baby tour, craft workshops and read-aloud moments. There is also plenty to do with kids in the Court of Holland, such as the children's tour Liberated Griffin.

Sportily discovering the city on your rollerblades

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy rollerblading in Dordrecht. Practice your tricks at the Skatepark under the Zwijndrecht bridge or use the cycle paths in and around the Dordrecht city center. De Elzen, a spacious and quiet nature reserve, is also perfect for rollerblading and perfect for both beginners and advanced skaters. Two routes have been plotted, one of 10 kilometers (the blue route) straight through the polder and one of 20 (the red route) over the dikes, including along the Kop van 't Land and the Zuidendijk. The routes are connected and can be skated in two directions. If you park at De Viersprong you will see the signs automatically. In short, fun and sporty with the kids!
