A beautiful historic city center by the water, great stores, museums, cozy terraces and just a stone's throw away National Park the Biesbosch. Dordrecht is ideal for a day out and more and more well-known vloggers and influencers come to discover the city at the invitation of Dordrecht Marketing & Partners. For example, Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit visited the best places in all provinces for their vacation book 'Nederland heeft alles'. Naturally, they also came to take a look at Dordrecht.
In addition to the showbiz couple, Renske Borst(www.renskeontdektdewereld.nl) and Lois and Naomi of Travander were recent guests. They share on their site www.travander.nl the best-kept secrets at home and abroad. These adventurous and enterprising ladies were also positively surprised by Dordt: a new pearl in the Netherlands for them.
We would like to take you through the places they discovered in the city.
Of course, the Grote Kerk, with its leaning tower and 275 steps, is not missing from a visit to the inner city. The Wolwevershaven, the Damiatebrug, the Groothoofd, the Stadhuis, museum Huis van Gijn, the water and the view and Het Hof van Nederlandare all worth a visit as are the many catering establishments and special stores. Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit also made a stop at Distilleerderij Rutte and visited the Arend Maartenshof ( one of Dordrecht's many almshouses ). At the Hof, they made another amusing discovery: the Geheime Loket, the drawing machine at Hofstraat 3, by designer Marije Vogelzang. What's in here? Walk past it and be surprised.
Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit did a tour of the city center by bicycle. Ideal, of course, to visit different places this way. Do you want something faster? Then just like Naomi and Lois, rent a comfortable and sturdy e-chopper. These can be rented at Dordt-E. A boat trip should not be missed when visiting our island. With the Italian water cab from Si Barone you sail in style through the harbors and to the Dutch Biesbosch. Once in the National Park you can indulge in all kinds of activities. Nicolette and Bas took a canoe trip, Lois and Naomi chose to participate in sup-yoga. Indeed, that's yoga on a supboard. Of course, you can also rent separate supboards (at DRIJF) for a beautiful day on the water.
One day is actually too little for a city trip to Dordrecht. What is the nicest place to spend the night? Renske Borst, with over 20,000 followers on Instagram, knows the answer to that. For years, she has been visiting the most original places to sleep in the Netherlands and Belgium. In October, her third book will be published with new (too) crazy places to sleep in the Netherlands. One of her first special sleeping spots, also featured in her first book, was the cardboard Wikkelhouse at Stayokay. "Super nice so close to the city but in the middle of the Biesbosch. Nice breakfast to go with it. I then combined it with a canoe trip. My upcoming book will feature the new Stadshotel on the Steegoversloot. This is really the icing on the cake with Christa's new bakery downstairs, the banana plants and the cozy courtyard garden. The twelve hotel rooms are beautifully decorated, all different but in one line with beautiful colors and fine retro atmosphere. Really a hip asset for tourists, but also for Dordrechters who want to have a quiet cup of coffee. You are just out of the hustle and bustle near the center."
Like the others, Renske can recommend a visit to Dordrecht to anyone. "I even liked it so much that I moved there seven years ago." Conclusion from Travander: no matter how much time you have to spend in Dordrecht, one thing is for sure, you'll love it.
Curious about more tips for places to go out, stores, restaurants, walks, bike tours and activities? Stop by the VVV tourist office on the Spuiboulevard, they have many great walking and cycling tours.
André van Duin and Janny van der Heijden moored in Dordrecht and the Biesbosch for their program "Thinking of Holland. Among other things, they made a stop at camping site 't Vissertje, visited the historic city center and went in search of beavers in National Park the Biesbosch. Did you miss the episode?
